RADAR - Risk Models and Information

You want risk information? Well...we'll hedge a bit on this one. The issue of risk from exposure to ionizing radiation is very complex. We will not treat it in any comprehensive way here, but we will share with you a couple of things, and point you to other sites that have good information.

On the Nuclear Medicine Internal Dose page we give a short document that gives "boilerplate" risk language that can be used in patient consent forms for research studies involving radiation exposures, from Vanderbilt U. We'll just repeat that link here. On the Medical External Dose page, we show a table giving some external dose numbers for some medical procedures, linking the dose values to this consent form risk language. What the heck, links are free, here's that one again, too!

Dr. Randy Brill of the Society of Nuclear Medicine put together a slide presentation for the Society of Nuclear Medicine summarizing current knowledge on radiation risk. The Society of Nuclear Medicine has graciously allowed us to share that slide presentation with you; the slides and Dr. Brill's accompanying talk can be downloaded here (big file ~16 MB!). This is part of a CD that can be purchased from the Society, which has many other interesting talks on it.

Here are some links to other sites. This list is not comprehensive, nor in any particular order. These are just some potentially interesting links. The members of RADAR do not necessarily endorse any of the opinions of these authors. Any suggestions for improvement are always welcome.

We'll be updating this periodically. If we feel like it.
